CEO John Chen said today that the popular messaging client will be available in July on Windows Phones. The app is already available for the other major platforms. BBM users who have Windows Phones have been very vocal about their desire for a Windows client and now they get their wish. Kudos to Black Berry for listening to their users and moving the platform forward.
Rumors have been running around this week about new ‘Kinect like’ gesture support for the Windows Phone line. This means you will be able to control your phone simply by making gestures in front of the screen. An example of a new feature that will utilize the technology is called Mix View. It’s Here! With the arrival of version 1.4 comes the ability to set notifications for ‘leaving’ a gps location. Prior to this update You-Doo only allowed you to set notifications upon ‘entering’ a gps location along with calendar event items. In a marketplace where other video conferencing tools are free to use, such as Google Hangouts, Microsoft has decided to follow suit with it’s flagship conferencing tool. Skype video conferencing is now a free service from Skype. It was previously a part of the premium service and Skype users have been requesting it to become free for a long time. Well, the time has arrived. Skype users rejoice!
Microsoft has answered a lot of requests in this latest update 4.1.1. The changes include things like the ability to upload multiple files at the same time, better viewing experience on large screens such as the Lumia 1520, the ability to open and save files to OneDrive from other apps, sort files and folders as well as other bug fixes and performance improvements. Today we uploaded version 1.3 of You-Doo which adds a toast message to the ‘Passive Tracking’ notifications as an extra measure to make sure you know about a nearby task you have set up. Also, a redundant ‘Delete’ function existed on the long press menu of a task and we have removed it.
